Hey Everyone! 
I got this idea from the topic thread about the 377 words on the DHS (homeland security) watch list..

here's the Song Challenge - let's see what interesting songs come out of it.
 
 
Criteria:
 
 Use as many of the words as possible, in any order, with the song limited to 5 min.
deadline - September 30/12
do it up any way you choose, any style.
 
The tune could be an instrumental, IF the words are spoken or added in somehow.

It should be a "NEW" creation, not something you've had on the shelf before.
 
We'll put up a voting thread once the deadline has passed (we'll need a volunteer Tally Person with an email addy to submit votes to), so a 'winner' can be determined.
 
The "WINNER" (or possibly top 3) will have their song featured on a gmhCafe Radio page and player!  ;D
 
 
All in good fun.  :)

Can't wait to hear yours, Glenn.  I went a little different way than usual.

This was an interesting one to do, and I thought about a dozen different ways to approach it.  Ended up just doing it the way I heard it in my head the first time I read your challenge and saw the list...

Ok, here's my contribution to the first SMC.
 
Watch List Blues.
Pretty standard blues approach musically.
A quick mix too.
Lyrically, I just tell the story, and managed to use all the words the 'criteria' called for.  8)
 
It was fun - although a bit of a challenge to fit the words in, and get phrasing etc happening too.
 
oh yah.. the Instrumentation
Piano
Electric Guitar
Bass guitar (my ol' Marlin Bass)
Drums (Alesis SR16 drum machine)
Vocal track
 
- ok, off to have a listen to JOOM's.
 
 8)
 
P.S. - we'll get a player page format up and running to stream the tunes ... and hopefully get more participants in future SMC's here at the Cafe.
 
I spose we should have a tally person too..  - volunteer - anyone?
 :)

Thanks, Glenn, it was fun to do.  I was initially going to do a speed crunch of as many of the words as possible, then finally decided to do it this way.

Just couldn't get bass to sound right in the main part of the track, so I just used it in the breaks  In the end it didn't come out too badly, I guess.  No idea why I went all 'Carlosy' on the thing, but it seemed like a good idea for this one.

Can't listen to yours right now, for some reason it's telling me I don't have the rights to access it...

Got it, Glenn.  Very cool.  Listening again now (3rd time).

Love the 'visit' you had.  Great tune, great lyrics, and excellent job on the vox delivery.  Too bad more people didn't get in on this, but I'm going with the thought that everyone else was under the impression the competition was too stiff.  ;) 8) :P

I think 'Watch List Blues' should go up on one of the big sites, like YouTube...
