Which DVD is best for recording?

(1/1)

Bluebird:
The other day I went to purchase some DVDs to record some video things at home from my pc.  I was surprised that there's such a variety of DVD types.  How do I know which is the best type to buy?  My pc is just a regular pc with a DVD burner.  I got it for Christmas, and don't know much else about it.   ::)   Sorry, this is a bit new for me.  It looks like the people here know about this type of thing.  Hope you can help.
Thank you.

Joom:
Hey BlueBird,

Yup, there are quite a few different types of DVD.  There are DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, etc...

These days most current DVD players will play either DVD-R or DVD+R without a problem, unless you're burning a DVD for someone with an 'older' player you shouldn't have to worry about it.  I normally just buy a batch of whichever I can get the best deal on.

Rather than do a lot of typing, I did a quick search and here are a few answers.

Like anything else, there are lots of opinions, but you should be safe by going with either DVD-R or DVD+R blanks...
