Beginner Question - importing tracks from Pro Tools
« on: January 06, 2017, 10:34:33 AM »
My band did a recording session in a professional studio that used Pro Tools and we have all the tracks in Pro Tools format.

My guitarist has Pro Tools but I'd like to use Audacity to work with the mix. What file format should I ask him to Export the tracks? Wav format or something native to his Mac? I'm working with a PC laptop. Or something more compact for transport like flac?

Hey Pete good question.

I'd try to have the tracks exported as wav. files in highest possible bit rate... either 24 bit or even 32 float as audacity handles these for optimum quality.
Flac will compress files if sending large tracks over the net.. but I'd still be inclined to use wav when possible.

I hope this helps.

happy mixing.

I like to ride IN cars, it's less tiring and less exhausting :)
