Noise Gates
« on: August 24, 2011, 11:14:12 AM »
I was just trying some different vst's in audacity, and noticed there's no gate of any kind... which can come in handy sometimes.

Any good vst  noise gates out there, that are worth recommending at our favourite price point?

I have an analog compressor/limiter/gate/expander, but don't really want to run the signal through it - thought I'd see if a vst gate will do.

Thanks
Glenn :)

Man, I used to have one I used in Kristal down at the old place. Can't think of the name at the mo', let me think on it.

Also these  FREE vst's, from Reaper, can be used in other DAW's.

Compressor, delay, gate, EQ etc

Hope that helps

Thanks,
I've also found this one,

http://www.kvraudio.com/db/auto_gate_expander_by_slim_slow_slider

I'm going to try these out, - see how they do at gating a track that I want 'shut off'  for several bars here and there in a piece....

I've been using the 'silence' tool to do this job in the past, but it can take a lot of time if there's a few hundred spots where it's needed... hence the gate!

Happy Recording  :)
