Robert Fripp's Guitar sound
« on: September 03, 2011, 07:12:26 PM »
I came across this while surfing ... thought it was an interesting read.

Robert Fripp, the renowned guitarist ala King Crimson,

He also does the Windows "Vista" sounds you hear - yep that's Fripp!!! Although you may not recognize any of the 'sounds' as Fripp-ish ... he apparently played THOUSANDS of sounds and recorded them for Microsoft, after which, a 'committee' chose the final 'sounds' - the sounds were chosen to be 'non offensive' to anyone, resulting in very mundane non 'Fripp' sounds in the end - Windows ripped the 'soul' right out of Robert Fripp.

Here's an analysis of his 'sound' for those players interested.

I've always loved Fripp's smooth sustain sound so sweetly supplied  :D

Happy Recording  :)

Old Eastern saying "Man who run in front of car, - get tired .... man who run behind car, get exhausted"
I like to ride IN cars, it's less tiring and less exhausting :)
