High point of the week so far? A shower. A little wobbly. I was oddly glad to get the collar back on. ;)

Hey HE,
since you're interested in either the Tascam, or the Zoom H2, which I have both now... perhaps I'll do a shoot out with them.

Maybe A/B them on the same source - see what comes out of the exercise. and post the short sample of each
 8)

both recorders are actually very similar in layout and ease of use, but the features/options do vary on some aspects - this could get interesting.
 :)

I got TWO new Tascam DR-05 Linear PCM digital recorders yesterday!

The 2 portable units will go with me in the field, and for recording around the house, or tracking my guitar, flutes, drums, and other instruments.

I'll have 4 portable recorders with me on my excursions now.. placing a recorder in key places in the wilderness..and going back 10 or 12 hours later to retrieve them for listening and editing.

here's a pic attached.

Second thunder storm of 2013 here in mid- Northern Ontario.

A lot of rolling boomers, but no wicked lightning... the intermittent downpours were welcomed here.

I took the digital recorder outside to record the storm.. placed it in a nylon fly sheet to protect it from the rain..

when I played back the recording, it sounds just like your in the tent listening to the storm.

here's a little clip.   8)

Maureen found another distribution location for my Music & Nature Cd's!
It's a brand new business, called "Trader Ted's" - and it'll likely be a nice little hot spot for tourists and passers by.

Ted has prominantly got the CD's displayed on the counter beside the cash register... thanks Ted! That's a prime spot, and I hope they move well there.

Maureen made up a nice little display box that holds of few of each of the 3 projects at that location.

I'll have to post a pic of the nice job she did with it.
Thanks Maureen... and thanks Ted, for carrying my music.  8)

Nature in General / Re: Loon Calls by the campfire!

I've added the above video to DVD along with some of the other "Music & Nature" pieces I've produced over the past couple seasons.

I'm going to see if I can video a family of loons this summer, hoping there's a nest pair on the lake I like to record at.

the black flies are out in force now... so the next couple weeks will be fun.

We had a really great meeting tonight, and it looks like we'll be able to provide the sounds needed for the projects coming up.

We're all pretty excited about the prospects of working together on these programs, bringing the appreciation of nature, and awareness of the pristine beauty of the Georgian Bay area to those who visit, live and vacation here.

It's a cool thing!

I just checked through a recording I got back from a secluded wilderness marsh...

I have some amazing soundscapes recorded... geese coming in for a landing in stereo, ducks splashing and quacking, redwinged blackbirds very close and clear, and other songbirds...

and .... a wolf howl that's as spooky as one can imagine... woah.. jaw dropping stuff!

I hit it lucky at this spot I guess. It's kinda like fishin' sometimes... you never know what you might get, but if you don't get out there - you get nada!
