Home remedies, tips and tricks / Cleaning snow and ice off the car
« on: January 03, 2012, 11:43:55 PM »

Hi:

For those who are living in the colder climates ....
An environmentally friendly solution to cleaning snow and ice off your vehicle in the morning is to carpool.

This morning the temperature was -30 Farenheit,  The car was frozen up with snow .... no worry - the carpool arrived to pick me up - all cleaned off, and warmed up. ;)   A nice way to start the day.  ;)

gmhCafe Radio Shows / I heard "Easy Does It" Radio
« on: July 06, 2011, 01:14:13 PM »
I've just listened to the new "Easy Does It" Radio program, and I must say that it was very pleasant to listen to.

The music isn't like the 'elevator' music that I thought might be on the show, but instead, it's a really good mix of interesting music that covers a wide range of genres too.

I like the new addition to the programming and am looking, and listening for more great music on the radio.

I helped make my day!  :)

Thanks for putting it up!

Positive thought for the day!

The power of positive thinking is like a car with a powerful engine that can take you to the summit of a mountain.

Member Blogs / Biggest soaker
« on: June 24, 2011, 04:37:15 PM »
I got the biggest soaker evr today coming home from shopping.  It has been raining non stop since last February I think lol, seems like it anyway.

So, as I was walking home with my bags, (and there's no sidewalks where I live), I was dodging puddles that are on the side of the road, all along the way, when I came up to this HUGE puddle 10 feet across and had to walk around it.

Just as I was doing that, a large transport truck came barreling down the road, and there was traffic coming from the other direction so it couldn't go around the puddle.  :'( :o

and guess who got CREAMED!!! - my hair was soaked in front of my eyes, my coat was soaked, and my clothes were soaked right through. Needless to say, it was not a very pleasant rest of the walk home.

Gardening and Agriculture / Oldtime uses for straw
« on: June 16, 2011, 06:32:16 PM »
Did you know ...

The term "threshold"  is from the "old farm days"  ...
Poor farmers would keep the thrash (now called straw) left over from thrashing the wheat.  They would lay it down on the house floor to keep the cold damp from coming up through the dirt floors, and to keep the dust down when the dirt was dry.

The thrash hold was a piece of wood laid across the doorway to keep the "thrash" from being dragged out of the house as people went outside.
I thought only birds used straw to keep warm  ;)

The other day I went to purchase some DVDs to record some video things at home from my pc.  I was surprised that there's such a variety of DVD types.  How do I know which is the best type to buy?  My pc is just a regular pc with a DVD burner.  I got it for Christmas, and don't know much else about it.   ::)   Sorry, this is a bit new for me.  It looks like the people here know about this type of thing.  Hope you can help.
Thank you.

A tale from the customer service business ...

At our office, most calls received are from concerned, and sometimes cranky, customers.  Well, today I received a phone call from a gentleman who phoned to say "thank you" for a suggestion I had made a few months ago.  He said the suggestion worked out better than he had thought, so  he wanted to thank me.  This nice gesture made my day.  To think someone took the time out of his day to phone.

Has someone on the other end of the phone line help you more than you expected?  A simple "thank you" could make someone's day.  :) :)

A story from a little birdie.

Have a nice day,
Bluebird
